The highly aromatic nature of Lemon Bush (Lippia javanica) has made it popular for medicinal as well as other purposes. It is used as both a recreational and a medicinal tea. Used as a popular traditional remedy throughout Southern Africa for respiratory problems such as coughs, colds and asthma; to bring down fevers and to treat malaria, it is also known to have been used to address headaches, skin problems and the soothing of sore muscles.*
The essential oil contains myrcenone, carvone and piperitenone – volatile compounds with links to antiseptic, antibacterial / antifungal and insecticidal activities also found in Lemon verbena.

A distinctive lemony-cut grass aroma with hints of caramel or cinnamon. Reminiscent of the heady days of Spring, this zesty oil is uplifting, and ensures you don’t lose your zing. Try it in a steam bath or as a rub to relieve the chest, or to reduce fever. In a burner or diffuser it will keep insects at bay as well as uplift mood.
